Maverick tag screws

I have Maverick for less than month and got tag yesterday in the mail. While changing out temporary tag from dealer notice that they had tightened screws too tight and stripped one of screw holes. Very poor design by Ford not your usual inserts in tag location just screwing into plastic

I'd wager 90% of vehicles are using the same setup now days. Most will use a hole pre drilled, insert a plastic piece and call it good. This way you can just replace the plastic insert as needed.

As for the Maverick, the rear bumper tag setup does leave a lot to be desired, but nothing a good set of larger screws can't handle, as already mentioned.

If anything the lesson learned should be to never let a dealer screw things into your vehicle. Same goes for a front license plate bracket. NEVER! Don't let them touch it. Do it yourself. They make brackets that don't need to drill into bumpers.
