Maverick plates screwed straight into plastic?

I just noticed that the Maverick's licence plates are just some sharp screws drilled straight into plastic, which I guess if fine for the first owner on the cheapest entry level truck on the market, but I was thinking there should be a more permanent solution.

Has anybody tried one of these for a stronger solution or is there a premade solution?

they've been doing this for YEARS... if it gets stripped you just go up one screw size. i guess there is an end but how often do you actually change the plate. we use stickers in Fl and a new plate is issued every 5 years or so.
