I got my Area 51 Maverick Lariat today. Waited 354 days for it. I had a great experience at Mossy Ford, San Diego, CA. Everything went smooth at the dealership, no complaints. This is my first truck and I LOVE it!

Congratulations from over here in Texas. You are in a beautiful country. I had an office in North San Diego County for a few years and loved to fly out there and spend some time. You will surely grow to love your Lariat hybrid more and more as you drive it. My wife and I both have Lariat hybrids and they are fantastic. Have fun Mavericking.

On Aug. 25th will have had my Lariat hybrid for 10 months. I average only 250 miles a month so far (retired) and have been averaging 45mpg. Most driving is city, maybe 80%, and hilly here in upstate SC, so I coast a lot. Best I've gotten on short trips is 82mpg. Waiting to see how well it does on the freeway, which I haven't a clue, just what I have read on this blog.

Always great to hear how happy a member is with his new Maverick. It certainly is a unique and exciting truck. I make up "errands" just so I can tool around in it. I will tell you this: I had to rent a Mercedes while undergoing the side airbag recall (2022 model) and the ride was not nearly as comfortable as the Maverick. You'll love your truck. They did not add any other "stuff" to the truck. It was just as I order it. Mossy Ford said they can't add "other stuff" to your truck since you ordered it. If it was a truck on the lot then they can add "other stuff" to it. Not sure if that is true or not. I will admit I went into the dealership during production to clearly tell them not to add "other stuff".
Before I answered any of their questions like "how are you paying for the truck?, what's your monthly?, etc." I asked for the "out the door price" first. Get this number first, so you have a base you can start with. If you don't get the "out the door price" first then they will be in control instead of you. I didn't purchase any "other stuff".
I went through a SDCCU. I got pre approved before the truck was delivered. I walked in with my down payment, pre-approved loan and trade in. They couldn't beat the credit union interest rate.
Once Mossy Ford calls you, you have 48 hours or so to pick up your truck. Don't delay in picking up your truck. Have everything (down payment, auto loan and trade-in) ready before it's delivered. They are eager to to sell it for themselves if you don't pick it up in time. I tracked the truck during the production, rail and delivery process. I was probably a little bit OCD about it.
So far I get 540 miles per tank driving in San Diego.
