I personally refuse to buy from ANY dealer that raises the price $1 over MSRP! When people give in to those kind of tactics it only encourages dealers to continue to rip consumers off.Hi everyone! Im new to the group and would like some advice. I just got a call yesterday saying a customer order didn’t go through for a maverick hybrid XTL with luxury package. The hybrids are extremely hard to get right now. They are doing a 4k markup! Do you think it’s worth the mark up or should I just wait it out? I just don’t know if I want this opportunity to slip since I don’t know when I will be able to get a hold on another hybrid. So my question is would you pay the 4k mark up or is that just crazy talk?! Lol thanks!
There are rumors that Ford may drop dealers in favor of selling direct to the consumer and dealers would only be there for maintenance and warranty repairs. I, for one, am all for that type of program. I know that there are a few honest dealerships out there, but they are few and far between.
We have a Ford dealership that used to be family owned for at least 60 years who always posted their asking price on a sticker in a window and on their website. For the last 30 years I always dealt with the owner direct and always walked away with a deal below msrp, They would let their customers take a vehicle out for a test drive without any salesman going with you and let you test the car for an hour or two! Now there is not a single new vehicle on their lot that has a factory sticker at msrp. Evey last one of them are maxed out with options that I don't need or want.
My last vehicle purchase since they have been sold was not very satisfactory. It was the old "how much do you want for your trade-in? I quote a price. The salesman says, "Let me check with the boss". He comes back and offers several thousand dollars less than I wanted and I refuse their offer. He goes back to the "boss" saying that I refuse to lower my asking trade-in price. He comes back with an offer of a few dollars more. I refuse to budge. Back to the "Boss". Comes out a few minutes later and agrees to my demands! They knew from the beginning that the price I was asking was fair. Why all the BS? Because they were trying to squeeze every last dollar out of me!
They have recently been sold to a large out of town dealership that sells several brands of cars & trucks and they don't display prices on the cars anymore and when you go to their website instead of showing prices like before the sale you get the dubious "Call for price" notice.
So, thus my support for manufacture direct sales!
