I installed eibach springs about a month ago and followed the instructions precisely, including their guidance to trim the front bump stops as shown.
Twice I have hit what I would consider a mild bump at mild speeds and felt a large impact and heard a mechanical clank that sounds a lot like a shock bottoming out real hard. The first time I was on a dirt road and it was mild (by Kansas, or any standards) washboard bumps and I was going around 30 mph when I heard a bang. I slowed down and started dodging the washboard the best I could, and I didn't have any further issues.
Today I was crossing train tracks that I've crossed many times in my hometown, but the first since lowering my Mav. I was going around 35 (speed limit 40) over the tracks and much like the incident before, felt the hard jolt in the steering wheel and a loud bang. I'm not sure if I'm going to bend a wheel or break a strut first, but I don't like that sound and I'm curious if anyone else has had this issue with any lowering springs, and whether or not you trimmed your bump stops.
I searched for other threads about this, and checked the web for install instructions for Goodwin or H&R springs, and didn't find anything. I know that some folks who install this Eibach kit didn't trim their bump stops and I now think that might have been a better choice.
