Hello All,
I have an XLT, tow-package carbonized grey (removed fx4 stickers)
Current Mods: Linux liner, Tonneau - Hard Roll up by Rev, Added a 12v to truck bed for a Dometic CFX Fridge Freezer
Sadly, I live in a province that requires a license plate for both the front and back of your truck. I couldn’t bring myself to drill my Mav - so I started looking for mount solutions online. The closest I could find is a MOMO brand Ranger mount but I wondered about fit issues.
I decided to research 3d printing companies locally and found Alpha Play in Winnipeg. I put together a sample made from cardboard to meet my expected dimensions. They did they're magic and redesigned it into something that would last. I was able to buy hardware off the shelf at my local Home Hardware: 1x 40mm bolt, 1x nut, 2x large washers, 2x large rubber washers. I recommend stainless steel in order to avoid rust.
I road tested the unit on a trip from Winnipeg to Montreal and back. 5k kms without the unit requiring any care or tightening, not to mention taking direct hits from a million or so bugs en route. Very happy with how it turned out.
I think I am going to choose a new accent color for my Mav and print new trays for the interior - I’m just not sure how to deal with the orange on the vents. I could order XL vents but I think I can come up with something cheaper. Once I have a new accent color - Im going to have my mount reprinted to match.
My next 3D printing idea is for the cubby. I want to make a functional, stand up arcade style - piggy bank. Thoughts?
If any of you are interested in keeping your Mav pristene - Alpha Play has put up a link of the design they refined for me.
