On the Mexican build issue, there is definitive evidence that vehicles assembled in Mexico have greater problems than elsewhere. My wife drives a Tiguan, manufactured in Wolfsburg, Germany. The same model year ('16) saw production in the U.S. (Alabama?) and Mexico at the time. The repair histories showed that the Wolfsburg vehicles had the fewest issues, followed by the American ones, then Mexico in last place.
That said, her Tiguan had a loose door on it right after we started driving it, and when we took it to the dealer, the guy grabbed a giant wrench and just cranked the bolts. I had the impression he had been doing that quite a bit.![]()
