I am toying with the idea of using a key fob controlled RF relay for my flex bed projects like lights and power station in order to avoid a physical button that could get inadvertently pressed or damaged by materials I may be hauling. I was thinking about the key fob controlled RF relays like this one Here that I found on Amazon. I am wondering everyone’s thoughts on the idea. I know the plugs don’t stay powered for long. Does anyone know how long they have power after the key is removed?
The not always powered does mess with my plans to be able to turn the bed lights on whenever I needed them, but perhaps that is a good thing because I am not sure how much draw these would be on the battery while they are listening for the key fob press.
For those that have more experience with electrical stuff, your thoughts and insights are greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance!

Hi!
I believe it's like half an hour of power after turning off. The draining shouldn't be much of a concern as these ones usually are pretty low load..

I am thinking of putting something up similar.. but I most probably might tap it on one of the lights that's come on with the tailgate. I have a hard cover on which would need me to open the tail gate to be able to get to anything and I think this should work fine for my usecase.
I believe that the key is too bulky already. I don't wanna add another piece to it.. šŸ˜…

I think that it would be good to have a fob that would extend the time that it remains powered as well

Bulkiness of the key fob is definitely a huge negative. I was hoping for longer power so that when camping, I could turn the lights on whenever I needed them. Someone mentioned towing into the power wire on the 6pin harness. I look into that. I really like the tailgate switch idea. I didn’t know there was one. Thanks!

Still need my truck to be scheduled, built, and delivered, so may be a while. I am just trying to get my ducks in a row. I have my shopping list for my truck stuff once it does get delivered. It is getting pretty long.
