Just realized I was using the wrong motor oil grade (EcoBoost).

The bigger issue is the spec of the oil you did use. I don't think there is a 5W-20 that meets WSS-M2C961-A1. Now if your oil was meant for high stress turbos & you don't live where it's hot it's probably fine, but I would change it out only for the warranty implications.

Every single oil change threads will get you more opinions than you will know what to do with. The intersection of things people are interested in and also expert at is almost zero.

No, can't believe this thread is three pages long. The engine has no idea what kind of oil it is. As long as it's close and you change it back to spec at next change no harm no foul.

Here the thing no one mentioned.
Let's say in 20k you have an engine related issue, and they ask for proof of oil changes, you hand them your info and it has the wrong oil on it, you just made it easy to deny a claim.

Is that worth the little you'll save by not changing it now?

Given I worked in dealerships for 15 years with about 12 different manufacturers, yeah I'm one of those. I suppose you're one of those that thinks it's the dealership and manufacturer's preference to deny a warranty claim just because they can.

Actually, I'm one of those techs that left the dealership because I was sick off it getting a good rep for CS off my back- so yea very familiar with it. But also seen a lot of warranties denied for stupid shit as well.
