You are a unicorn!I ordered a cactus grey Maverick Lariat hybrid Lux Co-Pilot360 on Oct 23d, 2021 and have gone through the same waiting game and order conversion process as many of you.
My dealer called me earlier today about three customer ordered Mavericks he just got in, two hybrids and an Eco. When he called one of the hybrid customers, the customer bailed on him and told him he didn't want the order, so the dealer called me to see if we were interested. The order is a cactus grey Maverick Lariat hybrid Lux Co-Pilot360 w/moon roof. I told him if it was as he described it, he had it sold.
When we showed up at the dealer to test drive it, he handed me an email that he just got from Ford. It was a production notification email from Ford that my order was going into production! So it's raining Mavericks at our house today. WHOOPEE! I have not stopped dancing today. . . .
We will probably take the 'Maverick in hand' rather than wait for the 'Maverick in the bush' (that may never get built). The Maverick we drove will not have the private offer applied to it, but it's sitting there and is a reality, not just a 'plan' from Ford.
My dealer also told me that Ford has canceled three of his new MY23 orders, so he has been telling those customers the bad news. Bummer for sure for both him and his customers.
Communication is the bane of our society. So they canceled MY23 orders that had VINs…that is weird. Hopefully he was just mistaken….and maybe they got pushed to a later date
Yeah, that just doesnt sound right. They JUST started scheduling MY23 so why give a vin then take it right back. They didnt cancel a single MY22 until the very end of 22. My guess is it was a misunderstanding and its the MY22 getting canceled like Ford said then rolled over to the MY23. They do have to cancel the 22 first. I have noticed some dealers are not keeping up with the emails on these Mavericks so good and usually know less than the customer about them. Just cant wrap my head around 23's that may have just been given a vin days ago at best would already be canceled unless that dealer did something wrong when not ordering like not providing proof that it was a real person ordering the truck like a copy of DL. If true and not the dealer just trying to sell at markup the ones he has there by telling people theirs was cancelled. Would be easy to do this to a trusting customer. Hopefully not, but already cancelling a MY23 sounds way off unless it was deceptive or a human error. Id want to see that email explaining why for each cancellation if it were me. Ford seems to be doing much better with the 23's so far which is another reason this does not add up for me at least. It is strange that it is for multiple at one dealership…..
it will be interesting to hear why if he ever finds out and let’s you know.
Then why issue a vin? I mean they JUST started sending build dates like a week ago. Does not make sense that they would give them a vin first. It would make since to be cancelling only those with no vin yet. Just doesnt add up at all. There is a misunderstanding here somewhere or the dealer screwed up when placing some orders like waited to late to order, left out info ford required or something. They wouldnt give you a vin then weeks later cancel it. I say human error when ordering or he is just BS customers to sell at markup whats on the lot bc it would be easy to sell one fast to someone waiting on one already.Said Ford took too many orders and realize they can not build them all.
