So we are having our first taste of winter up here in Minnesota, with some light snow and wet roads around the freezing mark (29f when I was out this evening).

I was curious to see if the AWD would kick in if the wheels slipped, so I set my cluster to the intelligent AWD screen (fx4 6.5 gauge). I was surprised to see that the power indicators show both the front and rear wheels were being engaged during regular straight line acceleration! Wheels were definitely not slipping, but the AWD consistently engaged during acceleration above about 2.5k rpm.

It went back to fwd only once at speed, during light acceleration when adjusting speed in traffic or when letting off the gas.

I read through the manual and couldn't find anything specific about the intelligent AWD performing this way, but I like it!

It was 78 here in Sierra Vista, Arizona today. Far cry from winter weather but I am happy to hear it is working well. I never know where I’m moving to next, the government jobs take me wherever.
