I hate auto start/stop functions. One of the worst 'features' humanity has ever invented. I purchased https://a.co/d/1ClFN2q to correct for this. This adapter requires plugging directly into the module with the auto/start stop disabling button. When I ordered it I didn't realize what a pain it was to pop out that button module.

Rather than marring up the console with pry tools as others have experienced, or uninstalling the entire center console (what a pain), I decided to try a new route by unscrewing just two bolts and one panel and squeezing my arm up the side.

To start, unscrew this bolt in the driver side knee panel. Afterwards, light pressure will pop the panel off.

Next, pop off this clip:

Next, unscrew this bolt. You will need to move the seat all the way back.

Next is the toughest part but also the payoff. You will need skinny arms so sorry to those who do curls at the gym. I was able to squeeze my arm up from the corner and quickly find the harness. The clip that secures the bracket is oriented on the side closest to the gear selector and needs to be compressed inward to release. It was relatively easy to find and compress.

From there, the wire harness is long enough to pull out as you remove your arm, plug the adapter in, then reverse the steps.

I turned the car on and it was immediately working and good to go! I hope this brief guide helps someone!

Looks like I'm the odd man out... I have no issue with my Auto Start. However, I only drive about 50 miles/week, 95% in town stop/go routes, and I plug in a battery tender every few weeks when the stop/Start stops working.

I accidentally ordered a second one for these by mistake. I was trying to buy one for my wife's Santa Fe but clicked on the one for the Mav by mistake! I installed this one on my 24 Lariat 2.0 right after I bought it last October and it has worked flawlessly. I tried to return it but I would have to ship to China which costs more than the part sold for (still don't know how they can do that). If anyone wants this one I will sell it for $25 and I'll eat the shipping. For more info or questions send me a message.

Thank you for the great write-up, but your 10 minutes took me around 4 hours (my usual repair multiplier). I started out following your instructions, but scratched my by-no-means-gym arm on the inner console hardware, and had to stop to stem the bleeding. I also lost one of the bolts as it dropped behind the seat rail and found a hole to hide in. I also couldn't find the clips under the switch - felt both on the front and side, and eventually had to give up. (Note, the "side closest to the gear selector" meant the front to me - it wasn't there. Ultimately, it was on the driver's side.) I tried the pry bar at that point, and popped up one of the buttons that wouldn't go back down, so decided to remove the console and try and fix everything when I could see it.
I downloaded a '22 owners manual from an earlier thread, and began to remove the console altogether. That went pretty well, except my '24 console has 7 bolts, not 6 - that took a while to discover. Eventually I got the console emptied and off. The switch popped out easily, when I could see the clips. The button got fixed easily, and the new harness popped in perfectly, and the console was ready for reassembly.
I then had to retrieve the lost bolt. I could see it in its hiding place, and get one finger on it, but not pliers, hemostats, tweezers, or anything else. I couldn't find my magnetic pickup tool, and thought of putting super glue on my finger, when I saw the tool hanging from a bookshelf where I left it. It took all of 15 seconds to get the bolt after that.
The console went back without much drama or blood, and the switch works perfectly. I'm now nursing my arm with some bourbon. Thanks again for your post; I wouldn't have tried this without you.

I installed mine by removing the console (yes there are 7 bolts/screws) and I also dropped the bolt on the left side between the console seat and I still to this day I've not been able to see/find it. It's like it went into a black hole. To top it off I bought a new Kershaw packet knife (I have a knife thing) and dropped it into the same spot and it is now gone too. I'm guessing I'm going to have to either remove the seat or console to find them.

BTW I still have a brand new unused, unwrapped switch for sale if anyone is interested just message me.

As much as I despise auto stop/start, it is easy enough to just hit the button when I start the engine. It has become second nature: put on seatbelt, push auto stop/start button.
