Installed bed tie down rings (instead of D-Rings)

I went a different direction and bought tie down rings opposed to D-Rings. The eyelet ended up having to either facing forward or aft for a ratchet strap to hook. I would have rather had the eyelet in the down position but with the contour of the bed I was unable to get a hook in them.

Any particular reason? They don't seem as strong but I don't see a weight rating.
