That is how I found my Maverick. We had family over for my Sons birthday party and we were talking vehicles, since I had been shopping for a new one (My Escape was on its last legs) And a family member pulled one up on her phone. I called the dealership fully expecting it to be sold or someone else's order, but it was there. About 5 hours later we had the keys and were on our way home. Freak by chance right place / right time type scenario, but it can happen.

congratulations! I stand corrected. Every time I call on one of the vehicles on there it was an order for a private party, they do/did not have the vehicle on the lot and was not available for purchase. False advertising in my opinion.

Ford vehicles are posted once a vin is created. There is nothing Autonation or any other dealer can do about it. You can pull up the window sticker to see if it will be a customer order or dealership stock. If it's a custom order there is no way to tell if the order was or will be cancelled other than the poster above with a needle in a haystack chance. That's where being on a salesperson contact list is good as they usually know before the vehicle even hits the lot.

When keeping an eye on the dealerships around me, it was starting to irk me a bit. One of the dealerships I called before finding my Mav said that unfortunately all of the ford dealerships will show every car they are getting, not by their choice. The Dealership (Phil Long Ford) here in Colorado started replacing the images for the ordered trucks with ones stating that the truck is spoken for. I think that helps a little bit. I was able to move on quickly to the next one.

Dealers can exclude them from their website. But many choose not to due to the free lead generation.
