An apparent usual problem of a rodent getting into the air intake somehow and then eating a hole in my cabin filter and then falling into my blower fan leads me to seek advice here. I cannot locate any sort of schematic or repair manual. I see that to take the blower fan off I need to remove the three screws holding it onto the assembly. First question is do I have to take th fuse box out to get the fan out? It doesn't seem like there would be enough clearance to get the fan out otherwise. Second, how are they getting onto the HVAC? Can someone give me a clue as to how to block the vent that they were able to get in through? I have some gutter pipe screen that I think would work (1/4 inch mesh). This also seems to be causing water to come out of the air port near the driver's feet which I assume is condensate from the air conditioning unit. I am getting a puddle on the driver side floor and it just started happening after I heard a rumble coming from my HVAC fan when I switched it up to 3 or 4. I think I killed the critter since my Mav now smells of dead animal. Thanks for any help! 2024 Mav XLT Hybrid

Thanks for the reply Gene. I was afraid of that (removing BCM). I am not sure how all the connectors come off. I already broke one off. I can't see any other way to put the third screw (in the back) back in once I get the fan down. I can reach it with a 5/16 open end wrench to loosten it... I guess I will see if I can figure out a way to mouse proof the air intake opening from the picture you shared. Seems I can put my 1/4 mesh over the top of it. I am hoping the mouse blocked the drain and that is why I had the water on the driver's side floor. Thanks for the tip and the pictures.

The large BCM connectos have latching levers that lock/unlock them.
The smaller connectors have their latch on the side or end of the connectors that has to be pressed for release.

...Second, how are they getting onto the HVAC?...
Not sure about the HVAC, but you might also check to make sure no critters have been entering the cabin through the air exit vent. It's behind the rear seat back. A piece of metal screen or mesh like a copper brillo pad in it wil prevent entry.
