On my 2023 Hybrid I've noticed that after a short trip if I disconnect my seat belt and/or a door is opened before turning the vehicle off the trip mpg summary will show all zero's when I do finally turn the engine off. Minor issue but just curious if that is normal? I thought the trip mpg data would only reset when the engine was turned off? Mine is apparently resetting before the engine is turned off due to either the seat-belt being disconnect or a door being opened....or both? Any thoughts?

I've undone my seat belt after turning off the vehicle and the trip summary screen continues to show for 30~60sec, can't tell you the exact time frame. But as soon as I open the door the trip summary screen goes dark (radio turns off also, etc).

I think the trip summary screen varies in info/presentation format shown based on the trim level. I have a Hybrid Lariat.

Hope this helps!

Ford in their infinite wisdom decided that the "This Trip" trip computer should reset when you open the door, even though you left the vehicle running.

In a Maverick Lariat, you get your standard Trip 1 and Trip 2 where you can reset them whenever you'd like. You also get a 3rd option for This Trip which is supposed to reset every time the vehicle starts. However, you'll notice that it also resets when you open the door.

XL and XLT have a different instrument cluster that does not display This Trip. However, it keeps track of the same metrics and displays them when you turn off the vehicle.

Got out to grab the mail from the mailbox? To grab a ticket, scan a pass, or pay at a toll booth? Got out to help someone else out of the vehicle? Welp, you might as well have turned the vehicle off because it forgot all about the time, distance traveled, and fuel efficiency data. Now it's been reset.

TLDR: yes, it reset when you opened the door. If you want to capture the data, do it by turning off the vehicle before you open the door (XL/XLT) or via the This Trip computer on screen (Lariat).

Thanks for the replies. I wasn't sure if it was the seatbelt or the door opening since I did both when I notice this happened. And just hadn't had time to experiment so thanks jsus for confirming it's the door and not some computer malfunction. Just got the truck (Hybrid-Lariat) a week ago. Still learning my way around the instrument settings. The Trip 1 & 2 will definitely come in handy...

I love your " Ford in their infinite wisdom" line, as a Ford technician I say and hear that from coworkers at least 5 times a day.
