I purchased an Android auto hack box a while ago to make my phone connection wireless. My wife wanted to listen to podcast videos that are on a you tube channel . After mulling it over a bit I purchased a cheap sim card that has data and messaging on it for $10 a month . Putting that into the android box turned my android auto into a computer . It allowed me to have full access to you tube , netflix , google , WAZE , and basically any program I can search for , as well as add add any android or carplay app I want to my screen .
I use my home Wi-Fi to add apps because its quicker and more stable . You just put in your password to the Wi-Fi search bar and its on . I have a lot to learn about getting this to work properly . I also do not want to kill myself or get tickets for distracted driving so I limit its use to mostly sitting still in parked situations . The screen shot I took was a test run to see if I could play sports while driving . A mistake , but a success . We tried it in a a Honda CR-V and found that you have to be parked to turn the video on and disconnect your phone from Android Auto but after its on , you can drive and watch (LISTEN) to the podcasts she wanted .
I hesitate to give specific android box recommendations , but there are really 2 brands that have good track records and have updates that work . I'll leave that up to you . I am not condoning what I have learned for a driver to use while driving , but it could be helpful to a passenger or family that wants to watch programs while driving . Its just fun to know that almost any Android auto or car play screen can be hacked successfully.
