Where were you at? I've fished up north at quite a few lakes, rivers.

Oroville wildlife area. Some ponds in the rockpiles hold decent bass.
Been to clear lake, like the rest of us SoCal "tourists" to your area. It was probably beautiful and peaceful for you I'm sure.
I'm still a "tourist" up here. Born and raised south of the Grapevine. Haven't got to fish Clearlake, bank or kayak for me.

Nice! Do you do anything special to hold your rods in the bed at all? I am a new owner (as of about a week ago) but I am in South Portland, Maine, and once April 15th comes I'll be going fishing as much as I can. I will eventually have a bed rack, so might just strap them to that, but just curious if you have any system you use.
Daily, I have a 2 piece rod/reel that resides under the back seats. If I take my 7 footers, I set the tailgate in the halfway position, put the rods in butt end first, corner to corner. I use a small bungie to lash those to one of the tiedowns on the side of the tailgate, keep the poles from sliding around. Not the best set up, but it gets me out to my spots. I was thinking of getting a couple of rod holders and putting magnets on em, then sticking those to the roof and securing the fishing poles.
