FX4 AWD shorter than 2wd hybrid

I actually noticed the same thing at my dealer this weekend. They had an FX4 Lariat and FWD XL, both Ecoboost, and the FWD was noticeably taller. I thought I was losing my mind. Also, a taller truck doesn’t mean more ground clearance. Depends more on what’s underneath.

Exactly, it's like some truck dopes that raise the body for more clearance, if you don't put taller tires on it the axles are still at the same height.

Because FX4 is marketed as more off-road purposed. Higher ground clearance/higher ride height are selling points for that purpose.

So yeah, it would seem odd to me for someone to upgrade to FX4 then lower it. Hope this helps clarify my thought rather than start a debate on your decision.

(having said that, I do not believe the FX4 in the photo or the other one I saw at the dealer were lowered.)

No debate needed & I see your point. I'm sure 98% that purchased the package will leave alone or put a lift kit on it. Also my thinking is it's not really an off road vehicle. Maybe mild stuff. I bought the FX4 package for the wheels & upgraded screen. Plus I liked the way the tow hooks broke up the lower fascia area. The rest was gravy. I've removed the FX4 stickers and will lower.

You assume someone intentionally "upgraded" to FX4, instead of taking what was available. You do know that you can't just walk onto a dealer lot and have your choice of myriad configurations, right? Lucky if you find one Maverick in stock and available at a time. In the entire area.

Or wanting it for bragging rights, or any number of other reasons.

I ordered mine, I wanted the tow hook mounts and bumper opening so I could somehow mount fog lights in the hole

I 100% did it for cosmetics, now had I known the front bumper was two pieces and I could have just ordered the FX4 bottom half I would have done that and saved a few dollars

I removed the FX4 stickers before I even signed the paperwork
