Wonder what folks thing about Ford prepaid maintenance plan. Is it worth it, or are they doing their own basic maintenance (oil, filter, brakes). As opposed to going into a shop or the dealer to do all the required maintenance?

I believe the maintenance plans are okay because they are priced based on today's cost. They provide protection from price increases in the future and price variance between dealers. The 100k plan allows 13 visits based on 7,500 mile oil change interval (20 at 5k oil changes). It looked like those 13 visits did not include the 100k servicing. I checked with a Ford dealer about how that plan applies to the 100k service. He said all I had to do was get my truck in before 100k. The service can be done earlier with the final oil change at 97,500 miles. If you go that route it will be well worth it.

Flood Ford offers some of the best priced plans out there. (Also on their ESP extended warranties.)

Right now, I plan to change the oil myself only because I want to use a low-volatility oil in my Ecoboost (and Motorcraft oil isn't that!) The maintenance plan wouldn't benefit me. But because it does replace brake components I may be tempted...

What do maintenance plans entail exactly? If I read that correctly that's like $100 an oil change.
