Insurance and warranty companies are always looking for ways to deny a claim. Let's say you have a classic car with insurance through one of the specialty insurance companies that has a provision on coverage that restricts the number of miles per year, or taking the vehicle out of state or a certain distance from home. So today you have a tree limb at your house fall on your car, guess what happens when the Flock data which insurance companies have access to discovers you violated the terms of the policy 3 months ago...even by accident or slightly.
Another (unrelated story). A person bought a used vehicle and also purchased an extended aftermarket warranty from the dealer. He had a mechanical problem that should have been covered, but when they inspected the vehicle, it had a slightly different tire size than the vehicle originally came from the factory. They denied the claim saying the differnce in tire size put additional stress on the driveline. The kicker is, it was the same tires that came on the car when he bought it from the dealer that sold him the car and the warranty.
My point is you may not do egregious things, but there are companies out there that will use any data available against you.
I am aware there are a lot of people that will F__k me in the donkey at the first opportunity. Those people that have tried have found out that I am not an easy screw. Example: I sued my own insurance company that was slow-playing me on a claim on a Friday - I had a check the next Friday. My point is companies have been spying on me for decades and the fact that there is another new way is not a surprise or a major cause for concern. I am not naive enough to believe that this is their last attempt either. My pet peeve is cookies that are dropped on my computer that lead to a barrage of ads. Don't call my home phone - I am on the do not call list and I will not be polite. I have brought two Chinese ladies to tears with my tirades and I could care less about their feelings since they invaded my privacy and Zen.:sneaky:
