Hello everyone!
I wanted to share with you all my first week experience driving my 2022 Ford Maverick.
A little background...
I ordered my truck since June 20th of 2021. I got the first update through email on December 2021 letting me know that production was going to start in January. After that, I received a couple more updates in Jan/Feb that delivery was scheduled between the last week of Feb and 2nd week of March. That was the last update until the salesman called me a couple of days ago to let me know that the truck was ready.
My truck arrived at the dealer on April 8, 2022.
I live in Katy, Tx (a Houston suburb) and it's been pretty exciting driving the anticipated Maverick for the first time.
I ordered the Lariat 2.5 Hybrid, Area 51, and with the faux leather seats.
First impression: It's quite spacious in the rear seats. I was expecting something between an EcoSport or a Fiesta. I believe the space it's a litte bigger than the Ranger.
Second impression: it does save on gas!! I've been driving it every day ever since April 11 (day of purchase) and I still haven't pump gas. It took me like 3 days to get use and fully understand the hybrid performance.
To take advantage of it both Freeways and City (mainly city) don't accelerate to hard. Build speed little by little. You are going to need some patience with it to fully get the electric performance of the vehicle. I like to keep the EV Coach on the dashboard to help me measure the speed so I can try to drive as much as I can with the electric engine/battery.
I do also suggest to break slowly and longer since that is what triggers the Regenerative Power; thus charging the battery.
I want to clarify that I'm not an expert in vehicles but that is what has worked for me so far. At one point I was getting 52.6 MPG prior to taking the freeways.
It drives smooth, it's really quiet, doesn't feel small (being a compact pick-up), sound quality is amazing (especially the surround sound mode), and the adaptive cruise control is sick! (In the good way).
I also want to share that today someone broke the passenger side window at a Mountain bike trail park in Tomball/Cypress.
I already spoke with the dealer and they will order the replacement. They say it's going to cost me $382 + $200 installation if paying out-of-pocket and not using the insurance.
Thank you so much for reading and I hope this info serves you well. Let me know if you have any questions, if you would like me to keep you updating you, adding more pictures, or If you guys are interested in the window replacement process.
