Both are rebates. Rebates/incentives/PCOs are usually claimed through the dealer and paid to the dealer, who passes it along to you at time of delivery. Meaning it gets applied to your OTD purchase/lease price. The Farm Bureau offer is a rebate. The dealer sends it in to Ford. Then Ford will send you a check for the $500. If does not come off the purchased price.
There is the option to have an incentive provided to you as cash, which is indicated on one of the many forms the dealer should be having you sign.
Generally the best option is to simply allow the dealer to apply all incentives to the OTD price.
