I have had my eye on this compact and affordable truck since it first came out, and have it in my mind that, at 72, it might be my next and last vehicle. I have 104,000 on the 2018 Ram 4X2 with the wonderful Pentastar Six in it, but living in the desert of southern New Mexico, I have often regretted not have 4WD what with all the rugged terrain and sandy washes we have here. So the AWD Mavericks look very interesting. My previous truck was an F-150 with the 2.7 Ecoboost engine, and wow, what a responsive power plant. But I continue to hear discussions of the turbocharged Ecoboosts having shorter working lives, so I am "soaking it all up" in the 2.0 forum. Glad to be here and hope to reward Ford Motor Company with another sale to affirm the wisdom of their decision to build this platform.

Hello and welcome to MTC. Hope you do more than look, especially with the employee pricing Ford is offering right now. I understand wanting AWD or 4x4, or the need for them. Best of luck trying to decide should I buy or not. I absolutely love mine and it's almost a year old.

At 72 I would imagine you will enjoy and appreciate the difference between a full size vs compact pickup, I know I have. Cannot even fathom climbing in or falling out of a full size. Or loading, unloading the bed and trying to crawl in to get something. Just reach over on the Maverick still offers great ground clearance for those times needing the AWD. The driving, handling, smooth ride and little to no body roll it's still a joy to get behind the wheel.

I got rid of the car hauler and toy hauler, so my towing needs are a lot less. The 4 k towing is the minimum I need especially with still owning 5 trailers. Just make sure you get options or items you need or may need. Similar to buying a 4x2 and realizing the need for 4x4. Many have opted to not buy the 4k towing than later selling to upgrade there towing needs. Many still stay with the Maverick several threads on this on this site.

Anyhow best of luck on your decision, I would highly suggest taking one for a test drive to see what you are missing or what you are considering. Just a warning they are addicting.

Test drive a Tremor if you're not worried about mpg, they ride very comfortable, and has AWD and 4x4.
