Do dealers know build dates before Ford sends emails?

I recently met a guy that happens to work at the Ford dealer I bought my Mav from. He's not in sales, but has been keeping tabs on my build. Long story short, he told me yesterday that I'm scheduled for a 4/4 build date. I asked about a VIN and was told I wouldn't get it until 4/4, which gets me wondering if I'm scheduled for a 4/4 build, or I'm scheduled to be scheduled on 4/4 (or the week of)? When I inquired if my salesperson should be telling me this, he said they weren't supposed to. I'm in Canada so everything is through the dealers. Anyway, aside from the weird secrecy, is it possible for dealers to get this info before the emails come out/Thursdays?

My dealer gets information from an internal Ford computer system that is different from the Ford email notification system. It has more details and earlier updates.

He (and others) explained to me that there is a lot going on Tuesdays and Wednesdays when the decisions are being made. Emails usually don't go out until Thursdays (or later, if at all).

So, yes, dealers can get earlier information if they look. And, no, he's never told me that dealers aren't supposed to tell the buyers what is happening. But he did warn me that the information can change overnight and info that was good on Wednesday may be wrong on Thursday.

All of this is in the USA, of course. You're in Canada, so... your litres per 100km may vary.;)

Thanks for the info. This is pretty much the answer I was looking for. I figured there's a lot of behind the scenes stuff going on before it goes public. I'm also well aware that there's a lot of opportunity for change. As with most of us on here, I'll grab on to any little tidbit of information that indicates progress towards getting my 17 km/L Mav! ;)

When I ordered my 2021 F-150 I received a call from my salesman 3 days prior to the e-mail. Ford assigns the VIN the day that you are scheduled. So if you have a true scheduled date you should have a VIN. At that point you can track it via the ford site yourself.

I thought the lack of VIN was curious, but I'll remain hesitantly optimistic.
