I plan on mounting a kayak on mine as well butnot centered on the rack. I plan to use a carrier that has the kayak on its side. For me, that should work perfectly but I don’t have a sea kayak like you spoke of.

A j carrier I think they are called? Yeah I was planning to do similar, I don't have a 20 sea kayak yet, I have a tandem one that sits about 16 that I have no way of using since I got the maverick.

I live about 10 mins from a launching point on the bay so it's not like I have to go far with it so a slight pitch up on a long kayak won't hurt.

I never got into camping before but I am curious about it so I was thinking a rtt in year or two or a 16ft RV which should work with the 4k towing package.

Btw, is that red or orange lettering on the back? I got the carbonized grey too and was thinking red would pop but I wasn't sure how it would look.

I started trimming everything out in orange. So I think red would be nice, as long as it was matched in other places. The fx4 sticker comes oem in red so red letters would definitely match. In my case I replaced the fx4 with an orange accented one, to match my orange tailgate letters and tools. I also plan to add orange decal to the tool box I just made to set it off.

That's what I was thinking looking at the fx4 sticker on mine, that red lettering would definitely match and look sharp.

Just glad that we won't match completely if I end up getting the xtrusion rack because I'll probably do this toolbox setup that you did too

Any concerns about the holes drilled inside the case will let moisture and condensation in? Maybe it might be worth caulking or sealing the holes with some rubber washers or grommets on the screw heads mounting to the rack to try to maintain the air seal to prevent outside moisture from getting in when the case is closed.

But otherwise, great work! I might do the same thing when I get my Maverick and XTR-1 in to populate one side of the rack for some extra secure storage space.

yes I added large rubber washers to the mounting bolts and fender washers for the holes I drilled through case.
