California carb compliant cold air intakes (CAI) ?

I’ve searched the forums, but there are way to many CAI posts about installs that don’t worry about CARB compliance.​

Has anyone installed a california carb compliant cold air intake on their Maverick?
Do you have any thoughts, tips, ideas about the install?
why did you choose the CAI you used?
Is there a list of California carb compliant cold air intakes that have been installed in a Maverick?​

Correct me if I am wrong, but in California, isn't it 100% illegal to modify any part of your vehicle, especially anything that would interfere with fuel and emissions. Also, pretty sure K&N cold air intake kits are 50 state legal and CARB certified.
