I love the look, strongly considering it when my XLT Hybrid comes in some time in the next 5 years.

First, I am a newb to car maintenance and truck buying.

Only thing holding me back is the budget. From a very naïve perspective, fender flares look like they'd help with protecting the fender, and at least, hide rust when it starts growing.

I guess what my question here is, is it worth blowing 700+ (Tax and install) on fender flare? Other than the looks, how does it help the truck?

I think it helps with rock chips from getting onto the fender paint and even the body panels. Also they look pleasing on the truck itself

They do look good if you have bigger than stock tires.

They really help with rock and mud flipping up in the body.
I have 245/65/17 Toyo tires. If I go wheel spacers to make the tires flush with the flares than I believe I will get a lot of dirt and rock chips on the paint.

Did you use the stock rims? Looks great
