I recently completed a mod for my truck bed making use of products offered by two of MTC’s sponsors, Mabett and Maxzina. I installed Mabett’s sliding bed divider some time ago. Since my Maverick did not come with the OEM cargo bed side rails, I ordered Mabetts bed divider and side rail combination. Almost immediately, I added both adjustable heavy and lightweight tie downs anchor points The heavier tiedowns are positioned toward the front of the bed, the lighter toward the tailgate. I also added a set of tool brackets to the divider itself. The divider was further modified to permit it to be slid and be secured anywhere along the length of the rails without the need for a tool.
One of Maxzina’s recent releases is self-retracting ratchet bed tiedowns. They are sold in pairs. As designed, the tie downs are fixed in the upper corners at the foot of the bed. I wanted more flexibility in using them to assist in securing oversized cargo. My intent was to mod the tie downs incorporating a fabricated bracket permitting them to be positioned and secured anywhere along the rails as with the divider. This required drilling and machining a metal framing construction tie. The accompanying photo show what I accomplished.
Just yesterday, Maxzina released a Molle panel to fit up against the front wall of the truck’s bed. I’m looking at also incorporating it as my next mod. Perhaps, I’ll add another pair of ratchet tie downs to the upper corners of the bed divider and additional anchor points to the front panel.
