Best Hard top tonneau cover?

I am anxiously awaiting the time that I can order my Maverick this summer. I will be ordering a Lariat. I have a question regarding tonneau covers. I would like a hard top but am trying to find out which is better to keep as much rain out as possible for the factory installed. Is the hard top roll up better or the hard tri-fold?

Based on other reviews - it seems the Hard Tri-Bi-Fold has the best water seal/channels to keep out most of the water.

Of Course, no tonneau cover is completely water tight and also it depends on the install.

If your a DYI - then I would take your time and make sure all seals match up together, especially at the corners.

I really like my Truxedo Sentry CT hard roll-up, however it is not the best at keeping the bed dry. I suspect that the slat design is the primary contributor. With that said, we had some luggage in there while it was raining last weekend and it was dry after the trip - water egress only occurs around the sides and primarily at the tailgate.

I do think a vinyl version of a hard roll-up might fare better (but I really like the matte heavy canvas look).

On my 2019 Ranger I had a soft folding cover - it did a much better job, very minimal water after rain/car wash. A hard folder would probably end up somewhere between the two. The final choice to me is driven by the security aspect, which a hard cover does a much better job with.

I highly recommend the SyneticUSA retractable cover from Truck2Go. It’s the least expensive I’ve seen. Mine was $1,001 shipped and installed. About $100 less than the BAK 4S! But strong and durable!

Thank you! I did a lot of research on covers on YouTube. The soft covers are all oing to need replacement at some point which means more money down the road. I wanted a more permanent solution which means the retractable type covers. They are expensive BUT Truck2Go has an affordable retractable for under $900! I got a 5% discount which put it under $800. Total for shipping and installation at my dealership was $1,001! This is money I will never need to spend ever again. So, I definitely think it’s worth it. My second choice was the BAK4S rollup cover. It looks very good but it’s not only more expensive than the retractable by $200 but at some point (probably several years) it will need to be replaced. That would mean another $1,200! So, the retractable cover by SyneticUSA is my first and last cover!
As for the color, I just got lucky. It was one of 3 Mavs on the lot. It was used with 666 miles on it at signing (I call it my Ecobeast) and was fairly well optioned with AWD, SIBL, BAP, Pilot-360, trailer hitch. So, it had good bones for additional improvements .

Here are some ideas for your Mav. The Catch-Can in the engine bay is only for the Ecoboost not the Hybrid. The tailgate damper is a good choice. I've also added Carbon fiber enhancements for the interior, tinted the windows, seat covers. Lifts for the hood, but be warned they can make opening the hood difficult. The Mabett fender flares are inexpensive but worth it in my opinion. However, buy some rolls of 3M double sided tape to put extra tape or some clear silicone glue for better adhesive.
