Hello. I’ve done some searching but haven’t really found what I’m looking for, maybe looking up wrong terminology as well.

I’m looking to build a bed platform to sleep on. Hopefully suspend it from the bed track system I got with the truck. Possibly use 2x4’s or 80/20 style modular aluminum for cross bars and put plywood or something across that. Probably break the platform into 3 pieces to make install, take out, and storing of the platform easier Looking for brackets to attach the cross bars to. Any ideas? All sorta new to me in regards to what is available for the track system.

Pic is my bed with the storage bins I want to have below my platform for storage of my camping gear.

Thanks for you’re insight.

You can add 2 or 4 additional sliding cleats to the bedrails but MSRP at $110 per pair!
Also the OEM crossbar kit for $315 has 2 bars and fit into the slider rails. but again only 2 in kit.
DIY on cheap = Do you want to access totes through the sleeping bed or slide them out through tail gate? Do you want sleeping bed out over open tail gate?

Yeah I don’t see myself doing any of that. I did what I did because I wasn’t going to spend that kind of money on Ford accessories. And I’ll access the totes with the tailgate down. May put a rope on the back tote to get it out easier. And I fit inside with the tailgate and glass closed.

How strong is your tonneau cover? My cheap one says it can support 500#. If you're taking the tonneau cover off can you make a platform that just goes across the bed rails? Maybe just make some supports that beef up the cover, since you already have it.

I have since gotten a cap. This is all for me to sleep in the bed. I made this post a while back before getting a cap, and while trying to research how to do cross bars. If I could delete this thread I would. The answer was right in front of me and saw it on another post.

This is my current progress. I will add extensions in the corners so my feet don’t fall off the ends, among a few other things to finish it up, such as curtains, a rope to pull the tailgate up and so on. Works pretty good for me. Have not had a chance to use it yet other than climbing in to check fit. I do have to be at a 45dg angle, or bend my knees. I have other options for camping. But wanted a self contained setup for light off roading / remote camping / overlanding.
