Bak Revolver freezing problem in cold temperature?

Guess I should have expected problems with my roll-up tonneau in sub-freeze temps. Duh!

Anybody have any advice on how, perhaps, to minimize this problem?

(I didn't ask about how to avoid it altogether. I can't convince my wife we need to move to the Keys.)

In the 90's I was living in the midwest and had soft roll-up tonneau's on my Ranger's. I avoided rolling or messing with the tonneau in the wintertime. It was very stiff. I didn't want it to crack.
I didn't have to worry about velcro because there was snaps along the back and the sides.
