First let me explain what I have in my Prius, because I'd like something very similar in my Maverick XLT.

So I have a plug and play Digital Sound Processor called an Axxess Active X, which sits in the dash, behind the stock Toyota head unit. This gives me 1) front / rear / subwoofer RCA outputs, 2) compensates for the bass levels which the factory HU tries to dial down, as the volume goes up, 3) allows me to fine tune my EQ settings, and time delays.

This ^ plays into a decent little 900 wt, 5 ch amplifier, which drives my front and rear, mids/highs, and a beefy little 8" subwoofer, in a custom built (by me) enclosure.

This entire setup, cost me about $1400, and has been SOO worth it :) This is in my Uber car, and I love giving demos to unsuspecting passengers (usually the younger ones, who ask for music ;)

All of this ^ results in a very nice, very musical, daily driver setup, which IMPO, anyone who enjoys nice sounding music, should have. (but nothing like the ridiculous ground pounding, blur your vision, and shake your guts, 4000 wt system, with an 18" sub, four 8" mid bass and eight mids / tweets, which I have in my F150 :) lol
__________

So, I expect the stock system in the Maverick to sound atrocious.... And I'm not even sure yet if Axxess, or some other company will have a plug and play DSP which will work with the Maverick's stock HU ? And, I definitely don't want to be ripping the dash up, and replacing the stock HU. My Prius system is proof that this is not necessary to get good sound (as long as someone makes a nice plug and play DSP to go with it)

Oh also, my Prius was supposedly only able to provide 35 amps, according to Toyota..... but 100 amps according to a stereo installer I found, who did a setup in his wifes 2019 Prius LE ;) Beyond that though, it will supposedly pop up with an electrical error message. Fortunately, I've never seen that with my max draw of 70-90 amps.

I'd hope that the Maverick could supply at least as many amps as the Prius, but more would be nice.

Anyone thinking about getting decent sound quality in their Maverick ???

I might replace the factory speakers, gotta hear them first. I have a lot to learn about sound systems first. A nice little sub might be nice too.

It's super easy, and super cheap (like $150) to replace four coaxial speakers in just about any stock vehicle. But it doesn't make a ton of difference by itself. The best speakers on the planet, with the insufficient power that stock systems provide, will still sound terrible. But you would be surprised how great those stock speakers would sound, if you gave them an actual 40 or 50 wts of clean power :) ...and as long as you didn't clip them, they would probably last oklay too. My biggest reason for replacing them in my Prius, was because that was the cheap, and easy part of my upgrades :)

PS, A little subwoofer can make a huge difference > however, it's quite a bit more expensive, and takes a lot more work that just replacing your factory mids/highs.

Hate to say it, but because of this one thing, I will probably have to hold off for several months, buying a new Maverick :(
I just talked to a tech guy at Axxess DSP, and he told me about what I expected.... Which is, the only way to know what is going to be required for adding a DSP to this new vehicle, is for it to come out first, then they will have to get ahold of one, pull out the factory radio, and study all of the connectors, and outputs and such, and then design a DSP to work with it :( Could be 6 months, or it could be never :(

For myself, good sound quality is an absolute must have, and is a deal breaker without it.
On a hopeful note, he did say that he wouldn't be surprised if the factory HU did share the connectors and outputs and such with a Ford Ranger, which they do already make a DSP for... but that without having one to see in person, their would be no way to confirm this. Crossing my fingers, and waiting at least until after they hit the road.
