Thought I would give a report on my personal experience with my 2023 hybrid XLT at 6 months ownership. Trim includes black package and tow package.

Hit 20,000 miles this week. Almost all highway miles. I drive 70 miles from my doorstep to work Mon -Fri. So roughly 700 miles a week. There is a 100ft change in elevation between the two locations. So basically flat, but some small, yet noticable, differences in MPG. To prevent readers lag, I will post the review over the next several posts.

To start, I got exactly what I wanted when I found this truck. The color, packages, and trim all fit my wants.
The second day I drove the truck I had to take it back in to have an electrical issue looked at. The issue was eventually fixed, but they needed 3 trips and one month in the shop.

There was a cable which was not connected in the battery system. That seemed to fix it and the guys at Courtesy Ford in Conyers Ga. Did great, even with the time, getting my truck taken care of. GREAT WORK GUYS. I mean it.
Since then I have had no issues. I am still happy.

After 20,000 miles there has been no drop in performance or mileage. There is surprising pep, especially at highway speeds. I cruise to and from work at an average of 80 mph and I get around 31 mpg up to work. Today I even got 39 mpg down from work! I have not reset my dashboard since purchasing my truck and the average since buying is 34.0 mpg.
There are no rattles, shakes, or noises. The truck runs true and the tires appear to be wearing well. I have used the truck to haul up to 16 sheets of sheetrock and it didn't even struggle. It delivers just what I need.
Next, I will post the things I wish could be better.

As good as the truck has been and my satisfaction there are several items that on occasion really annoy me.
  1. The back seat is damned uncomfortable. The size is not the problem. It is tight and everyone knows that, but the seat sucks for momfort. Too straight up. I Placed a memory foam cushion behind my hips and back, making it bearable, but I would not want to make a long road trip In that seat.
  2. The front seats are better. My two hours of driving each week are not bad. I would have liked to have a little more adjustment in the seat, but not bad.
  3. Why do any cars or trucks have automatic down windows but nit UP! That is so stupid to me. WHY. Just put automatic up and down in please.
  4. While not absolutely needed, I have gotten used to automatic windshield wipers. That would be nice as a standard option.
  5. The windshield wiper fluid reservoir is too small. I know it's a small problem, but it is still too small.
  6. All the lights should be LED. Why they are not, escapes me. First thing I did was replace the lights for the turn signals, tail lights, the brake lights, and the bed lights.
  7. The only other thing I don't like is the Crack in my windshield from a rock kicked up on 75 and the door ding a but wipe left me at office depot. But neither of those are Ford's fault.
I know my complaints are all first world or available on higher trim packages. But as I said to start with those are my wishes to make the truck better.

Lastly I would say I like my truck. My wife makes fun because it's not a giant road hog, but for me it is enough and I don't really need to compensate for some weakness I have. I think secretly she likes it too. Time will only tell how it holds up at 40,000 miles, which I should get around 1 year of ownership. I can update again.
