Having sold an XL EB for $34,500 to a dealership.. I know I took advantage of a crazy market, but I really just don't get it. I drove the XL for 2,000 miles. I loved it. But it felt like a $22k truck. Anyone who pays $35k for it has lost their mind.

Also, I don't have any idea how anyone would get this financed.

I used to do auto financing at a bank for a decade and this kind if thing happened initially with the PT Cruiser(believe it or not) and the New Beetle when they first came out.

In the opinion of the bank that I worked for, we considered them used cars. They would be so new that there wasn't a book value so we were willing to finance a percentage of the invoice amount based on a person's credit quality.

We knew that the market for them wouldn't last so we would only loan about 100% to 110% of dealer invoice, again based on loan application data and credit quality. Anything above that was negotiated between the dealer and customer for anything over that...price adjustment and down payment.

In the bank's eye, if you wanted to pay that much more that the vehicle sold for originally, you better have a pocket full of cash. Over pay with your money, not ours.

Canadian prices? I paid 42k it was 46k out the door with taxs and government tire fees ect. If you goto ford's website it was the same price if you configure it

I can't really be too mad at them. If someone is dumb enough to pay that much, then let the fleecing begin!
