Started down this rabbit hole after receiving Ford email to schedule software updates.
When tapping software updates from vehicle HMI it spins indefinitely trying to get status (I've let it try for over 30 minutes, I can never even make it to the schedule sub-menu). Then I checked my FordPass, noticed I didn't have any vehicle data available (pressure, mileage, oil life, etc.). I did module resets on my own, as well as key cycle without effect. After I removed vehicle from my garage now I can't reconnect my vehicle; after timeout prompts message:
"Your authorization request: Sorry, there was an error and we were unable to complete your request to change authorization rights on Maverick. Please try again later."
Just another observation when troubleshooting, when tapping Connected Services from vehicle HMI it notifies that they are not available.
I have tried on and off home wifi, with and without my phone connected to the vehicle with no change.
I had 3-4 lengthy separate calls to Ford Support, the last of which was with an OTA Software Updates team member. They walked me through some module resets again and another key cycle. They could not get any data on their end, showing my truck completely offline, noted that my modem is essentially showing like a new truck that had never been authorized off the lot (though mine was at one point).
I was advised to schedule an appointment with the dealership, and to convey that their certified SYNC 4 technician open a hotline request with Ford TAC to start dual diagnostics with an engineer over there.
My appointment was today. Service coordinator told me that they got as far as the first step which was testing the battery and its CCA was low (I think he said it was in the 400's when it should have been over 500), it probably has a dead cell, and they'll need to replace before they proceed. It'll be a few days before they get it in, so I'll be taking it back in next week I presume.
Curious how the battery relates to the issue (if it even does). Would I have noticed any symptoms of the bad battery in day to day operation? Other than the connectivity issue I haven't experienced anything strange. Maybe it's merely an obstacle they have to clear to advance the diagnostic.
Anybody else had or heard of anything similar? Was there resolution and what was it?
Cheers.
