Wow. I don't understand how the government can prevent you from purchasing an item from whomever you want. It's not like you want to buy a missile launcher.
It could be due to labor laws? Just guessing - but when I pointed out the “$75 installed” on the Ford site my parts guy smirked & said “nope…2.5hrs at our $190/hr rate”.

Here in Arizona we are prohibited from purchasing from the Ford site. And my local dealer does not honor the sales or labor rates listed. Kind of sucks really.
I’d go to war if a state even hinted at trying to control me like that.

Turns out Arizona does not let you purchase directly from an Auto Manufacturer - must use your friendly local dealer.

Tesla had to get an exemption to this state law to sell here.

Online aftermarket parts are not affected. Although I had to purchase Ford OEM Air Design & Tuffskin stuff directly from those guys because my local dealer quoted long leadtimes for in stock items at the supplier.

You are probably better off not to bother. With typical Manufacturer mark ups of parts 2 1/2 times the cost. I recently got a set of 14 front shroud screws and clips, some made of aluminum for 8.99 from Amazon. I priced them at the dealership, most were the bs plastic that failed or fell out, for 7.39 each. Total bull..... ! The parts guy couldn't look me in the face when he told me. Anytime you can get an upper hand on a dealer, do it! Go TO WAR WITH THEM.

So it's a retailer protection statute. Thanks for clarifying.

I've been trying to figure out what to spend my rewards points on since April, I don't mind a little markup but all the accessories are way overpriced compared to competitors! I actually came here and searched for "what Ford accessories aren't too overpriced" which of course had no results. I did end up ordering a bed mat and tailgate cover, between the labor day discount and my rewards points it brought the price down to about $70 less than it would have cost to get what I had saved in my Amazon wishlist.

I wish Ford accessories were a better value and the rewards points would have been able to go further but they were a bonus and I had to use them on something, so at least I got what I wanted and with less cash out of pocket than I would have otherwise spent.

I used my points to get a turn signal stock with lane keep upgrade. Installed it and got Forscan and programmed lane keep and Traffic Sign Recognition upgrades for free.
