Thank you for that tutorial! I was wondering about the value of installing mudflaps. I could not quite tell if you had mudflaps in front of and behind the wheels. I wonder about this because I seem to have mudflaps in front of the rear wheels and that’s all that came standard. BTW, I love your wheels!Pictures first. Install notes / product links are below.
I installed the fronts out just a little bit with the intention of getting better coverage; whereas the rears I mounted pretty well flush to the body.

Products used:
Buyers Products Thermoflex Mud Flaps- Pair 9in W x 15in H - $4.89 / pair @ Northern Tool
(link is to the same universal flaps on Amazon, PN is B915ppb if you do not wish to click the link)
45PCS Splash Shield Screws Bolt Nut Clip Kit - $8.94
*probably overkill as I only used (8) bolts & (8) u-nuts, but now I have some spares on hard
~$20 in total
Tools:
Ratchet w/ 7mm & 10mm sockets
Drill - highly recommend using a step bit
Plastic trim removal tools
Cutting tool to trim front mud flaps (I used a rotary but it was kind of messy, shears / snips would make for less mess)
I started on the front passenger side by removing these three clips.

I used two sheets of paper to make my template. Taped them together at 15" tall and traced the outline of the mud flap to get a rough idea of fitment.
Once I had the template in place, I punched through to locate the OEM holes and marked out where to trim.
*Forgot to take a picture of this but I had also drilled a fourth hole toward the inside of the lowest hole. That's why you see four holes here. I wanted to use at least one mechanical fastener per flap so that is why I drilled the hole. As it later turned out, the OEM middle clip was too short to engage; so I could have skipped drilling altogether and just used a u-nut and bolt in the middle hole to get a mechanical fastener installed.

Next step was to trace out the template onto a pair of the mud flaps. I taped two of them together to make sure the holes would be aligned in both sides.

Front pair ready to go, I later found out the middle clips were too short to fully engage with the fender, so I swapped those out for u-nuts and bolts from the hardware kit.

Front passenger side installed.

Moving onto the driver side, with two of the clips loosely installed, I marked out the inner hole to drill for the u-nut. Pulled the flap out the way and drilled the fourth hole. Installed both u-nuts and then installed the driver side flap.

Moving onto the rear, removed two upper clips and two lower screws (7mm).

Same process as the front: made a template, located the holes, taped flaps together, drilled holes in the flaps, installed u-nuts, then installed the flap.

A few notes for the rears, the upper OEM clips are just like the front middle in that they're too short to be reused. So that's why I used (2) u-nuts & bolts in place of the clips for each side. The lower OEM screws may seem like they're too short but I promise they're not. You just have to work a bit to get them started. Also, I was able to install all four flaps without removing the wheels/tires but that would have certainly made this easier.

A few more pictures of the Buyer's Products Flaps. They're textured on one side and smooth on the other.

For $20 I'm happy with the results. The same steps I've outlined could easily be followed for installing any other universal flaps really. These appear to be very durable considering the cost. I'm hoping these will cut down on the amount of debris that's constantly being thrown down the side of my Maverick![]()
