There is a better option though... there are strap to attach on the fenders, under the hood the look perfect! I've never bought them yet, but probably should

I forget where i bought them, I used them on my Focus for a few years...
The T-bar is perfect however I plan on towing a boat with canoe on top, or at times have the tailgate down w the canoe on top....
I had seen something like it months ago but didn't know how it was attached, and I didn't want to drill holes (yet😃)... so this seemed plausible... and it can be removed pretty quick... thanks !
Well, the turnbuckle cinched up with adequate but not too much pressure really kept it well secured, it stayed firmly seated... I did cut the 2×6 rear edges at 45° to really well seat well, which i think certainly helped.... I drove about 3 hours w canoe on, it never budged!! Also, crossbar...
Put in this simple canoe rack... 2×6 secured with 9" turnbucles, some 2×4s for pillars and cross bar... no drilling at all. I used a suction cup crossbar with strap though the rear doors cabin area... Canoe was as well secured as I ever had it !! Some would be concerned the strap comprises...
