Oh. My. God. Hahaha, you're absolutely right - that is the Driver Alert system.
I feel tons better now, honestly, I just had towing concerns on the brain!
Alright, an update and it's certainly mixed.
I took the Maverick + camper on a camping trip about 3 hours away in Northern MN. Bad news first. About two hours into the drive, I received a warning to take a rest with a symbol that resembled steam/heat. My engine temp was reading right in the...
And, typically, I will have my tanks empty when going more than a dozen miles or so. I had my water tank fill for the purpose of this weigh-in, so that'll mean about 200lbs less weight. Since the water tank is between the axle and the tongue, that should also reduce the tongue weight.
Passenger side sucks, driver's side is better and if I lean I can see behind me pretty well. I've just added a cheap towing mirror to the driver's side to better see who's behind me. I may add one to the passenger side, too.
Loaded everything except for food and clothes (100lbs, max) including my mountain bike and remote work setup. I filled the water tank and then took it to a CAT Scale.
I think what this tells me is that my tongue weight is high. I'm not an expert on the math here, but it's a smart thing that I...
I'm towing a camper that has a 3200lb dry weight so once I have all of my gear and in the case of having some tanks partially full, I will be getting within a couple hundred pounds of the max towing capacity. As I plan to be pulling this quite a bit, I want to ensure that I'm keeping my...
The camera angle makes a big difference in how big this camper appears relative to the Maverick, haha.
I just picked up my new camper, the Cherokee Wolf Pup 16TS, and brought it home. The camper has a dry weight of 3,204 lbs and a hitch weight of 470 lbs. Yes, I know, I know, Ford advises a...
I'm certainly hoping so. I'll be keeping a very close watch on this for my first few trips. I'm picking up the 16TS in two days and already have about 1400 miles on my Maverick.
I'll be following this quite closely. I'm picking up a Wolf Pup 16TS in two days. It has a UVW of 3,204lbs which should be fine but a hitch weight of 470lbs (which I know is over the 400lb max of the Maverick).
I'm going to be using a weight-distributing hitch which should help things quite a...
This is incredibly confidence-inspiring! I'm picking up my Forest River Wolf Pup 16TS next week. Its dry weight is 3204lbs and I'm having a weight distribution hitch installed.
