  1. Finally got my Maverick yesterday. 13.5 months after ordering it. $1300 more then i thought as Ford raised the price.

My dealer is in a different state and their sales tax might be based off of msrp where as here it is based on price paid.
  2. Finally got my Maverick yesterday. 13.5 months after ordering it. $1300 more then i thought as Ford raised the price.

My salesguy (from a large dealer) told me they charge the price as is, Ford sends them the check and then they cut a check to the customer. That method sucks though because then you pay higher tax. Here is where Tim covers it:
  3. Finally got my Maverick yesterday. 13.5 months after ordering it. $1300 more then i thought as Ford raised the price.

That is all true that your sticker will show new price. That they will charge you new price etc. However, Ford price protected those orders, so your dealer will get a check from Ford and they are then supposed to send that check on to you. I would contact Ford if they won't give you the price...
  4. 10 month waiting for My XLT hybrid Dealer 5k markup

Talk to the GM. Call the attorney general. Do you have any emails from them? Any proof that the price was agreed? Did they keep a copy of your buyers agreement? Did the buyers agreement have any pricing on it? Did you agree to some price and they gave it to you in writing? If they just ordered...
  5. Scumbag move by Crain Ford Jacksonville Arkansas

I agree. I am also not an attorney but I find many attorneys actually know less than I do about many aspects of the law. I have also read probably 300+ various case law cases. I have a friend that is an attorney and he will often ask my advice on legal issues. Also I'm very familiar with the...
  6. Frankfort Ford stole my Maverick

AG does go after people. Even small timers. Especially if they don't like a business practice. I'm very familiar with the AG.
  7. HONOLULU FORD/LITHIA MOTORS - BUYERS BEWARE!!!

Contracts don't have to be very official. There is some gray area here with this dealer but these guys will have a hard time claiming they didn't offer to sell these vehicles at a particular price especially if they printed out a sheet with the fees on it and had the customer sign it...
  8. I have a signed P/O can the dealer still mark up?

Legal agreements can be verbal. If they went so far to put it in an email then you have an agreement in writing. People can have contracts on a napkin. https://www.upcounsel.com/is-an-email-legally-binding
  9. Frankfort Ford stole my Maverick

And if you can ask them now before it even arrives if they are going to add weird stuff, you can contact the attorney general in advance and get that ball rolling. Along with the other contacts to the AG, they will probably take action. Put your question to them in email. Say, when I came in to...
  10. I have a signed P/O can the dealer still mark up?

I think you all are thinking there is no recourse here and I think you all to mostly be wrong. Verbal contracts are valid in most states. If they printed off a document where they wrote down the prices or typed up the prices and had you sign a form to give to them. Even though they failed to...
  11. HONOLULU FORD/LITHIA MOTORS - BUYERS BEWARE!!!

The Attorney General operates in a different space than contract law. They operate under the consumer fraud act, unfair/deceptive business practices etc. I think people don't understand the power of the attorney general. Any deceptive business practice can get the business in trouble. Something...
  12. Frankfort Ford stole my Maverick

https://ag.ky.gov/Resources/Consumer-Resources/Consumers/Pages/Consumer-Complaints.aspx The attorney general has more power than contract law. They have the consumer fraud act so they can go after people for things that are "unfair" or "deceptive." Where if you sued them in court you might lose...
  13. Worst Ford dealer ever. Screwed over by Frankfort Ford in Frankfort KY!

You should be contacting the KY attorney general. 1 or 2 complaints and they are likely to investigate. This is consumer fraud. Also you may save some others grief when they go to this dealer and the AG is already knocking on their door.
  14. Frankfort Ford stole my Maverick

Contact the Kentucky attorney general. Pretty sure this is consumer fraud. The AG in AZ recently sued a dealer.
  15. Dealer changed pricing on me

The $80 price increase was price protected. The dealer will get a check from Ford and they are supposed to cut a check to you. Also I'd contact the Florida attorney general and file a complaint about the other shenanigans. This probably falls under the consumer fraud statutes. AZ AG went after...
  16. HONOLULU FORD/LITHIA MOTORS - BUYERS BEWARE!!!

Contact Hawaii's attorney general. This could very well fall into consumer fraud. Consumer fraud allows the AG to go after businesses that you might not be able to win against in a contract case. Emails/texts etc in many states can be a contract. Hawaii is a 1 party state so record your...
  17. Ordered Maverick, dealer added on $2.5K of features. What should I do?

There is no formal discovery in small claims in AZ. Small claims is also at most 3500. They can ask to change from small claims to justice court too. Then they get an attorney. Most wouldn't want to do that though.
  18. Ordered Maverick, dealer added on $2.5K of features. What should I do?

I don't agree with most that there is nothing you can do. I agree with the prior poster about the attorney general. I would contact the attorney general. I don't think a reasonable consumer would interpret "taxes and fees" as any "add on." Id contact Ford. I'd file a BBB complaint. I'd give a...
