the channels are just L shaped 2x2 aluminum. I drilled holes in them and carefully screwed then to the edge of the wood with the rollers on it.
it’s NOT ideal. The 1/2” edge of particle board isn’t the smartest choice for a self tapping screw. I only used it because i had a full sheet of it...
I’m cheap and didn’t want to spend over a grand on one. This is far from an original idea. I’ve seen a bunch of YouTube guys do this. Uses conveyor rollers.
I don’t think it’s as quality as the big $ ones but it’s cheaper and lower profile than many. Total height is 2”

End of day 1 working out of the Maverick with switchblade cover and while I’m still skeptical of the quality, it is very functional. It really does look good and everyone who’s seen it is very impressed.
The clamps could be better… i just installed my switchblade and was able to figure it out from the instructions but I was scratching my head and ass for a bit
Installed the pace Edwards Switchblade roll up cover on my 3 day old XL. Sort of feels like a piece of crap but it looks great and functions properly for now….but im not gettin the “it will last forever” vibe. I’ll keep this thread updated. The plus side is since it’s not very robust, you...
Day 3. There are some vehicles that they just get “right”. Maverick is one of them. I bought it strictly because it makes sense for work but I am so impressed with how it drives
it’s actually faster than a late 80’s mustang GT or IROC Camaro. I remember those being “fast” Ha Ha.
we had an...
I ordered the fuel zephyr wheels and 245/65/17 tires. I didn’t want to push it on tire size. Went to the local off-road shop. I said Maverick and They kind of looked at me me like I had a vagina then the owners son recognized me as the guy with the 68 Charger and like magic, I was in the cool...
I’ve never been good at forming an impression of a car on a first drive. Takes me a while to get comfortable. Put 60 miles in it today and I’m impressed. This thing is pretty quick. Not a fan of the dial shifter. Here it is home next to my “real” truck lol
Newins was good. Had a deposit in a gray AWD XLT early April. Drove it , liked it. I was looking for a white XL but as we all know, if you want a Maverick and missed the order window, you pretty much take what they have .
They went to PDI it for me and the stupid recall for trailer towing...
Picked up my white XL today. Had the dealer install the 2" rough country lift. Clearly I havent gotten rims and tires yet. It's an AWD ecoboost. Came with spray in bedliner and has cruise control. It's for work so I'm not going that crazy.
plans:
-Proper wheels and tires
-pace edwards...
Thanks for responding. what wheels do you run.?
265/65/17 is on my list as well
my choice of wheel offset moves the entire wheel out away from suspension about 1/2” further than a stock wheel. A 245/70/17 is the same 30.5” height as the 265/65/17 but an inch narrower. My layman’s brain...
I know tire size has been beaten to death around here but I don’t see many people mention wheel offset.
Taking delivery of my XL/AWD in the next day or 2. Had the dealer install a 2” rough country lift. At pickup I’ll be rolling with the stock steelies and I haven’t ordered my wheels and...
