If you really want one just go to your local pick and pull (Vehicle Recycling yard) grab one out of a 2017 -2024 escape. Again I paid 2.00 for the tiny part, and yes it does slam down without it when I am reaching into it from the drivers seat. It was annoying as hell.

Nope, pretty sure the image below is the tail gate (and it has the half moon cut out) the piece I circled is the part that is broken in your picture.
BTW, the the piece that you have installed is not installed exactly correctly. Notice that it is not straight up and down? Its angled too...
