Gabbydad, I also installed the tailgate assist and it also was a DZ...but I also added two D ring tie downs where you had to take off the factory one...that way you will still have tailgate tie downs, thought I'd share...I started a post on here about it
Tom, I think it would fit over the tailgate liner just fine, just remove the factory tiedown and use the original bolt, I added a black washer and bolted on.
