Haven't seen both to compare, but given that the steelies have a cap over the lugs, I'm guessing they are an open-ended lug vs. the alloy wheels that have a closed-ended lug (looks better because exposed). Have you thought about wheel spacers? I don't know what's available but if you get proper hub centric ones that could push the wheels out a couple inches and maybe balance things out more. Probably be a whole bunch cheaper to try and see if you like it.
