I agree - I thought the originals from Lasfit were too bright. I like the benefits of LEDs - the quicker reaction, longer lasting, etc. And I do like that these seem a little brighter than the stock incandescent, without burning your eyes.
The real turning point for me was that I was in front...
Some rambling thoughts on LED's in the Maverick:
I LOVE LED's. I have had them in several vehicles now, and the benefits are hard to argue. I knew I wanted them in my Maverick, so I had a full set of Lasfits before my Lariat even arrived. I bought Lasfit because that seems to be the...
I think there are two different things being discussed here. Higher Resale Value and Retaining Value. There are more things to car value than that of course - mileage, condition, etc. But if we assume everything condition wise is exactly the same between two trucks, then the higher trim with...
I don't think that stuff has changed since more like 2000-ish when they went to rolling codes. If it did there would be a ton of cars not working anymore. But I'm making an assumption- do you have something that says that or are you just having trouble programming?
The reverse wire is so when you put the vehicle in reverse the mirror will go full bright. Either connect to reverse or leave it alone. Connecting it to another power source will keep your mirror from ever dimming.
It would be a PITA with 20! But the 96641BDX is a set of 4, which is why it works so well. It really does look just like the other 16 lugs unless you give it a second look.
One thing I do no matter what is to purchase a matching replacement key and leave it in a safe place at home. Cheap...
I purchased the same lugs and have run them on a couple vehicles now for many miles with no problems. You can get a closer/better match for the locks - the 96641BDX are almost identical to the lugs themselves and at first glance really do look identical. The ones you used are an Acorn end vs...
My guess is that because the hood is such a visible area, they would respray the entire hood and blend into the fenders. I can see that it would bother me too but I don't know if I'd want the front of the truck resprayed because of it.
Think I have everyone beat for the fastest!
I have this thing where I hate front plates. I always ask dealers not to install them. For this truck I noted it on the order and everytime I emailed the salesman. He was cool about it. I went to pick up the truck and all was well.
I signed the...
Agreed. I just don't think aftermarket companies go that far with truly making them compatible. It's not end of the world terrible, used to lose that function with some heavy duty flashers you'd put in trucks to make them work right when towing, but it sure would be nice to have it.
I had a VW that did this. It actually even varied the brightness of the light with how much you turned, not sure if this is that feature or it goes by turn signal on/off or how it works. It was a neat idea, but I never felt it did much compared to just having the lights on all the time with...
Share any details or pictures? Did you still use the DD relay and just run the trigger to the BCM or bypass it and go straight form the lights to the BCM? How did you route the wiring? Did you buy a pin/wire setup from Ford to connect to the BCM?
Going to be doing the same thing shortly.
I don't think the dash will necessarily indicate a problem anyway. If there are resistors inline, I believe the resistor would have to fail for the indicator to work right, regardless of what the LEDs or any other electronics in the bulb do.
I also had emailed them because I didn't want to risk getting one with flaws I didn't like and not being able to return it. They pointed me to their regular production models on Amazon:
