  1. Traded mine in.

Happy wife, happy life. Get *her* the Aviator and she will let you drive it.
  2. What type of payment do you take when selling truck

It's trivial now to counterfeit Cashier's Checks today with a decent laser printer. And those fake checks can fool a bank teller. But I still prefer a Cashier's Check to cash as depositing cash and carrying it around is a hassle. You can avoid the risks of counterfeit Cashiers Checks with one...
  3. Reviving the Ranchero name

Maybe the coolest part of that article is Farley's closing comment that Ford might get into the energy storage business. Why would that make sense for a car company that is also a battery manufacturer with excess battery manufacturing capacity? To understand why we first need to understand how...
  4. Enjoyed traveling and towing camper trip w/ 2022 Maverick EcoBoost

Engine choice is very relevant for descending mountain grades while towing. One advantage of a diesel engine is its amazing engine braking. One advantage of an electric-ICE hybrid is its regeneration braking. Both the diesel and the hybrids minimize the amount of use, wear and heating of...
  5. Enjoyed traveling and towing camper trip w/ 2022 Maverick EcoBoost

My (loaded) Hybrid Maverick has a $45,275 MSRP I could buy identical his-n-hers Mavericks for the price of the SuperDuty and have enough left over to keep both of the Mavs in gasoline for a year or so! The SuperDuty was not cheap but... passing everything while towing uphill in the mountains...
  6. Anyone know what's in this envelope?

Agreed! I suspect that the actual procedure most commonly used to get a Maverick EcoBoost with a dead battery to shift into neutral is simply to charge the battery until it is has sufficient charge to facilitate an electric shift into neutral using the rotary gear selector. Much less...
  7. Enjoyed traveling and towing camper trip w/ 2022 Maverick EcoBoost

14.4mpg, ouch! Just for another data point: My '24 F250 SuperDuty w/ 6.7 HO diesel towing a 25ft Airstream (7800 GVW) Average mpg over 11,000 miles w/ lots of western mountain towing at legal western interstate speeds: 14.4 mpg As several folks have previously noted if you are doing much...
  8. Anyone know what's in this envelope?

Recycling bits. Don't thank me, thank BlueSpec1 ! BlueSpec1 said: I have the metal pin in my glove box and see the Manual Park Release on the Transmission. Workshop Manual has the steps for using it to get the transmission into neutral: Transmission Park by Wire Manual Release Activation...
  9. Got my production date

Yes order number + VIN is required
  10. Do you think Ranchero would have been a better Name than Maverick since Maverick was a car before?

My vote would be "Deputy". The Deputy is not the top dog but tries harder because (s)he aspires to be the top dog someday. "Deputy" is consistent with Ford's truck western naming convention (e.g. Lobo, Ranger, Lariat). I've seen a lot of XLs in state service here in Washington State. Maybe...
  11. Got my production date

Answering my own question: My Maverick is ACTUALLY in production now! Yay! I just checked the Motorcraft service site for the "As Built" modules and this time the modules HAVE all populated. I'd hop on a plane to Hermosillo and pick it up at the factory gate if they would let me!
  12. Test drove a Ford Ranger for more hitch weight

Most Les Schwab tire stores have facilities for filling RV water tanks, for free. Maybe drive 99% of the way to your campsite then fill the water tank? Also a lot of state campgrounds have "dry camp" or "unserviced" sites but also have a place to fill the water tank near those sites.

  14. Got my production date

Not sure what is going on with my Maverick order. Order date: 05/08/2025 Scheduled: week of 07/21/2025 On 07/03/2025 my status changed to "In Production". (Yay! 18 days early!) Today , 14 days after the truck (supposedly) went into production the Ford Order Tracking site still says "In...

  16. Hook for Ford Bed Divider setup

Thanks James (the OP) for the excellent pics of the OEM tri-fold tonneau cover. I ordered my Maverick with one and before your post hadn't seen a decent photo of one installed!
  17. Hook for Ford Bed Divider setup

My Superduty/PowerStroke HO has a canopy on it and my surgically repaired knees don't take to crawling. I have a "bed hook" fabricated from a broom handle and a "ladder hook" like this: https://a.co/d/5eVPlxX With the hook I can poke boxes into a box wall and can retrieve any box by...
  18. Finally got my 2025+Lariat+Hybrid+AWD, first thoughts and impressions:

Thanks so much for this detailed review. I have an identical truck that is scheduled to build the “week of 21 July” and to my delight the truck just went into production today according to the Ford production tracking site! I agree that the Maverick is a passion project for Ford and as a Ford...
  19. Do you think Ranchero would have been a better Name than Maverick since Maverick was a car before?

In the late 1970s I worked for a rental car company that had an all Lincoln-Mercury fleet that included about 150 Mercury Comets, the Mercury name-plated version of the Ford Maverick. The Comets (and Mavericks) still had POINTS in those days and the distributor cap wasn't well sealed...

    Maverick Amateur Radio Club

New member, 1st post! Following this thread closely as I plan to run HF in my Maverick AWD Hybrid (Build date: wk of July 21st 2025) I have a ‘24 F250 w/ the HO PowerStroke for towing so plan on using the Maverick’s 2x2 receiver hitch for an antenna mount. I’ll probably run my (12 ft)...
