As mentioned already, the random on/off of a hybrid would make a "performance" sounding exhaust ... sound weird. You could be sitting still, deceleration or accelerating on battery/EV - then "vroom" the roar of a magnaflow and a CVT comes to life. Eww. Lack of shift points makes it sound even...

Yet the company still makes billions of dollars of profit. Seems like they can afford to pay for these, just fine.
