Can't really deny a request like that right? Here's some more from today.
Tried a front profile shot to show how much the tires (245/60/18) were sticking out, seems like not much at all.
If you're sticking with 17s, you can get the same size or slightly smaller on the first number...takeoffs are 225 so 215 or 205 is ok...all depends on your snow and ice and temps in your area. Only real suggestion I have is to ensure they are on different winter rims so it's easier to swap out...
Try Facebook Marketplace, that's how I scored mine. What you're looking for is:
-18 inch rim size
-Tires should be around 245 or around that, 265 is probably near the max but scared of rubbing
-5x108 for PCD measurement
-TPMS Optional
Guy I got them from took his off his Jaguar E Pace so...
That was my exact thought, either let it run left and right out of that back channel. Maybe 3d print or like a rubber ramp of sorts to do it. Only thing we don't want is to trap that water in there.
Saw the Bak X4 install and they actually use a rubber edge upwards all across so it's minimal...
I have to recommend to go with what I have...Bison Tri Fold. Super happy with it and it checks most of the boxes:
-pretty good water tight, few drips in the corners out of the box but also a few mods to be done after to mitigate
-car wash no problem, the install video even has a guy standing...
So, the conclusion update...until there's more of course:
Ended up getting a deal on some ford used rims, and then called a Mobile Tire Service to come over to complete this project:
remove winter tires from sexy rims
add summer tires to sexy rims
add winter tires to ford used rims
Swap sexy...
So updated photos below:
They're all mixed but let's see if this works:
toughbed photo is finished product for now (top view)@
Side photo shows the trim I did for the little railing...it's basically D trim then cut the left and right to fit in the channel, then cut half of the D so it fits...
Just saw your inside photo, your areas of drips should mostly be in the corners and at the tailgate, but not the sides. Check the alignment as well, the rubber flaps on the left and eight should overlap the Metal rail almost straight down. Sometimes it nudges an bit left or right from the play...
Hey Montevilla, I regularly hose down my bed in the car wash and I also did some leak tests with full blast water just to see what to patch up. Here's what I did:
using your photo:
1 this was actually a big spot for water. I bought some thin rubber foam stick on weatherstripping and cut to...
Those bronco wheels are sweet. Saw some mav with it on here.
All I really need is someone with a FX4 package saying "oh I wish I had smaller gunmetal rims like the XLT" and lived fairly close by haha.
Thats the backup and absolute last ditch plan. It's just so hard as I bought these with those intentions for an amazing price...but then realizing the condition they are in I feel it'd literally be a sin to load them up in the snow and slush. I just thought they were oh normal good tires with...
Winter tires - 18 inch
XLT wheels - 17 inch
Will not fit.
On a side note, I saw a set of summer tires online (265/60/18). Anyone know if 265 would rub while driving/turning?
Excellent observations, and you touched right on why I didn't want to sell the takeoffs.
This truck has changed my driving habits and style for the better (plus it's my first new vehicle, always bought used). I don't really plan on getting something else or trading this in at all, other than a...
