Have you checked in the settings to determine whether the back-up camera delay has been set to on? If that's the case, turning that option off might be all that is needed.
Can't speak to the thunk (which could be unrelated).
Back in the 1950s a neighbor had a lovingly maintained maroon Model T (with matching maroon tufted velvet upholstery). By then he was keeping it garaged for the winter and only tooled around in it from roughly May 'til September.
You are far from alone. Was in the same capacious boat and relied on the customer service phone number for info prior to vehicle's arrival.
BTW, nobody's Maverick order comes up on the Ford account site (supposedly something to do with the unique ordering process).

For orders confirmed prior to the announced price increases (around Christmas time), price protection applies. Subsequent to that, until the books were closed in late January on orders, there's nothing to protect - what you ordered is what you pay.

As of early this year any major change (and switching dealeships on an extant order is a major change, if it can be accomplished at all) will reset the calendar on your order date, which also resets the pricing to reflect what is in effect on that new date of order.
I was referring to the option to change the background (Settings -- Display -- Background). One of those choices might offer a level of contrast you find more amenable.
Others have mentioned the same quibble. Have you tried choosing a different background for the screen via the settings menu?
This being the very first vehicle I've owned (or ever sat in, for that matter) with a screen of any type, if anything I find it too bright and distracting out of my...
